Here is a fun project I did last year at my sons’ elementary school – a Mud Kitchen for the Kindergarten playground – yay!
It was Covid time and the Kindergarten teachers had cracked the code and overcame previous barriers to spending lots of time outside. With proper all-weather clothing, clever storage systems, and good communications with parents they started spending the majority of their days outside all year long—and loving it!
I asked them how I could support them, what else did they need? And they answered: a Mud Kitchen! So I sourced some durable black locust wood from a local sawmill, put out the call for parent volunteer builders, and in one afternoon we had a new Mud Kitchen! Woo hoo! I love walking by seeing the muddy wet action. Fun!
